Siege Engine Practice Wednesday 3/13/2002 6pm EST at DL

Post by Thadicus » Wed Mar 06, 2002 2:49 pm

The purpose of this practice would be gain more experience with the many different types of siege engines and see who would be interested in becoming a part of the Demolition Unit.

The practice will start at 6pm EST on Wednesday the 13th of March. We will be forming at DL at the given time, handing out parts at the bank upstairs, porting over to a realm that will be decided the day of the event (it may even be our own realm), and starting the practice. If you would like to participate in the practice please see the contact information below.

Even if you do not want to be a part of the unit, we could still use your protection at the event! We are going to have to concentrate on using the engines.

Please post a reply to this thread if you plan to attend or send me an email at Thadicus@sok.org

Here is some additional information on the Demolition Unit.

Mission
The mission of the demolition unit is to provide realm wide siege engine support for any defensive or offensive battle.

Detailed Information
The long-term objective would be to create a large number of teams that would consist of a numerous players from across the realm and alliances lines. Over time this force or groups of teams would bond and form a cohesive unit. The numbers of players in this unit will be large and the job of the unit will also be large and difficult.

Each member on the demolition unit will need to have a vast knowledge of siege engines and their uses. We need to know how to control each weapon like it was our own sword, mace, dagger, or bow. The ultimate level of siege weapon specialization would the ability to judge where a target will be moving and fire on that spot killing them when the reached it. We need to know the max range of a given weapon up hill, down hill, and on a flat area. We will also need to know the land like the back of our hand.

To do all of the above we will need time, practice, and a lot of hard work. Here are the goals as they are currently set

Short Range Goals
-----------------
1.) Conduct numerous informal practices within our alliance (Shady Lane and Sterling Order of Knights) and find individuals who would like to pursue being a part of the Demolition Team. -- COMPLETED

2.) Network outside the alliance and friends of the guild to find addition members.
